Engineering consultancy software for Oman: staged fees and profit per project
An engineering consultancy sells fees in stages: design, then supervision, then handover. Nizro builds that the way the office works: a quote the client accepts, then a project with milestones and deposits, then costs and variation orders, then a handover at which revenue is recognised. You see the profit of each project on its own, and accounting, purchasing and payroll come with it.
Works the way you already work
In an engineering consultancy: you and Nizro
- You
Turn an accepted quote into a project.
NizroIt builds the stage schedule with its shares, payments and dates, and the contract value comes from the written quote.
- You
Take a stage payment.
NizroIt issues a VAT invoice for it and books it as owed until handover.
- You
Write a change order for extra work.
NizroOnce it is accepted, the new contract value is the real one, to be collected in full before handover.
- You
Upload a drawing and the client's approval.
NizroIt keeps who approved, how and when, and a new version never wipes the approval of the one before.
- You
Pay a contractor on the project.
NizroIt enters the amount in the project's profit and in the office's books at the same moment.
From the quote to the project
A project does not start from figures typed from memory. It starts from a quote the client accepted and you converted, so the contract value comes from the written quote. Fee categories arrive ready in Arabic and English: architectural design, structural design, site supervision, survey and study, permits and approvals, and consulting hours. If work was agreed without a quote, you open a project from one line and a contract value.
Milestones, deposits and invoices
Nizro builds a milestone schedule from your office's default weighting, with a percentage, a planned deposit and a date for each phase. Every deposit you collect gets a tax invoice and is booked as a liability on the customer advances account until handover. Three bars show what is complete, billed and collected. If 80 percent is complete and 40 percent collected, you are funding the client out of your own pocket. A project cannot be handed over before the full contract is collected.
Variation orders
Extra work changes the contract value through a variation order, not by editing figures. Each order has a number, a description, a change in the contract value and a cost estimate, and its status is draft, approved or rejected. When an order is approved, the effective contract value becomes the new one, and that is what must be collected before handover.
Drawings and the client's agreement to them
You upload your drawings and designs to the project, images up to 200 KB and PDFs up to 1 MB. For each drawing you record what the client agreed to: who agreed, how and when, by signed copy, in person, WhatsApp or email. The agreement is recorded per drawing, not per project, so a revision cannot erase the agreement given to the version before it. If you disagree later, both agreements are in front of you.
Project costs and profit
Everything you pay out on a project, subcontractors, fees and permits, is recorded on it, and it lands in the office's books and in the project's profit at the same moment. The project profit statement is the same income statement filtered to this project's entries. The portfolio timeline shows all your active projects on one line with their milestone dates. After handover everything that touches money is locked, and a mistake is fixed with an accounting entry.
The office: clients, purchasing and payroll
Leads and quotes sit in one record. Purchasing from subcontractors and suppliers runs through an order, a supplier bill and a statement. Payroll follows Oman rules: Social Protection Fund, end of service and the Wage Protection System file. Every user has permissions and every action carries the name of the person who did it. A timesheet per engineer does not exist today, and we say so.
E-invoicing and your consultancy
A deposit invoice is structured today: tax on every line, sequential numbering and no amount, VAT, line or price changes after issue. The system is built to connect to Fawtara, which becomes mandatory for every VAT registered business from 1 October 2027 under Decision No. 189/2026. Confirm your own date with the Tax Authority.
Questions everyone asks
Does it split fees into stages?
Yes. Each project has a milestone schedule with percentages, planned deposits and dates, and every deposit gets a tax invoice.
How do I see the profit of each project?
Everything you pay out on a project is recorded on it, and the project profit statement shows revenue, costs and the difference. Revenue is recognised at handover.
What if the client adds work after the start?
You add a variation order with the change in contract value. Once approved, the effective contract value becomes the new one.
Does it keep the client's agreement to a drawing?
Yes. For each drawing you record who agreed, how and when, and the agreement to each version stays separate.
Is it ready for e-invoicing in Oman?
A Nizro invoice is structured today and the system is built to connect to Fawtara. The mandatory date for every VAT registered business is 1 October 2027 under Decision No. 189/2026. Confirm your own date with the Tax Authority.
