Opticians and spectacle shops

Optician and spectacle shop software for Oman

From prescription to handover: Nizro holds the prescription per eye with its ranges, builds a spectacle or contact lens order on it, and follows it to a VAT invoice.

Built for Oman and the GCC · 30 days free

Nizro's new prescription for an optical shop: a table per eye with sphere, cylinder, axis, add and prism
  • A prescription for each eyeThe system refuses values outside the ranges
  • A lab order with frame and lensFrom draft to collection
  • Contact lenses with a wear scheduleA reorder reminder is arithmetic, not guesswork
  • A VAT invoiceWith the deposit deducted at handover

Works the way you already work

In an optical shop: you and Nizro

  • You

Type the reading for each eye.

    Nizro

It refuses an axis or a sphere outside its range as you type, not after you save.

  • You

Pick the prescription, the lens and the frame.

    Nizro

It prints the lab slip with the frame's measurements and follows the order from draft to collected.

  • You

Receive the glasses from the lab.

    Nizro

It sends them back with a compulsory reason when the quality check fails, and counts the remakes.

  • You

    Sell contact lenses.

    Nizro

It works out the reorder date from the wear schedule, and creates no order before an examiner signs the lens trial.

  • You

Hand the glasses to the customer.

    Nizro

It takes the VAT out of the agreed total, issues the VAT invoice and deducts the deposit.

What an optical shop gets

  • The prescription, per eye

The prescription is a table per eye: sphere, cylinder, axis, add and prism.

    • It always reads left to right, because optical numbers are read that way in clinics
    • The ranges are enforced: an axis outside 1 to 180, or a sphere outside a realistic range, is refused as you type, not after the save
    • A cylinder without its axis means nothing, and a prism without its base direction means nothing either, so the database makes you fill the pair or leave both empty
    • Pupillary distance is recorded three ways, for both eyes together and for each eye alone, because a progressive lens needs each eye's figure
  • Correcting a prescription without two live versions

If you make a mistake, you open the correction link and the old values appear for fixing.

    • On save the old record is struck and linked to the new one in the same step
    • So there are never two live versions of one pair of eyes, and the history is one straight line
    • When a prescription has expired, an order is accepted only with a recorded override
    • Oman sets no legal validity period for a prescription, so the decision is the shop's own and stays on the record
  • The spectacle order: frame and lens

In a spectacle order you pick the spectacle prescription, the lens specification (design, material, coatings) and the frame, which comes from the catalogue or is typed as free text.

    • When the frame comes from the catalogue, the lab slip prints its measurements A, B, ED, DBL and the temple, which is what the lab needs for fitting
    • The stages follow a fixed path: Draft, At lab, Received (QC), Ready, Collected
    • If quality control fails, the order goes from Received (QC) back to At lab with a compulsory reason, each remake is counted, and the screen asks who pays for it: the lab, the shop or the customer
  • Contact lenses and the wear schedule

A contact lens prescription is its own record: base curve, diameter, brand and the wear schedule, daily, monthly and so on.

    • The schedule is what makes a replenishment reminder arithmetic instead of guesswork
    • A contact lens order cannot be created before a named fitter signs off the trial. That is a database rule, not a reminder on the screen
    • A lens order never asks for a frame or measurements, and its slip carries the lens facts themselves
    • Nizro refuses a lens order on a spectacle prescription, and the other way round
  • The invoice, the deposit and insurance

The quoted total on an order is what the customer pays, and VAT is included in it.

    • At handover the VAT is worked out from the total at your business's rate, and a tax invoice is issued
    • A deposit taken on the order is deducted from its invoice at handover
    • If the manager sets a minimum deposit, the order is not sent to the lab until it is taken
    • An insurance claim names what it pays for: you type the invoice number and the lab order number, and a number that matches nothing is refused with a clear message
  • The shop floor: ready glasses, appointments and the customer file

Ready frames and other items are sold at the till like any item, with stock and cost.

    • Eye test and collection appointments are booked on the appointments screen
    • The customer file gathers prescriptions, orders, invoices and payments
    • Every user has permissions and every action carries the name of the person who did it

The spectacle order

From draft to collection, in fixed stages

The stages of an order are fixed, and Nizro follows it until it is handed to the customer on a VAT invoice.

  1. Draft

The prescription, the lens specification and the frame

  2. At lab

The order is sent to the lab

  3. Received (QC)

Received from the lab and checked for quality

  4. Ready

    Ready for collection

  5. Collected

Handed to the customer on a VAT invoice

  • If quality control fails, the order goes from Received (QC) back to At lab with a compulsory reason, each remake is counted, and the screen asks who pays for it: the lab, the shop or the customer
  • The deposit is deducted from the invoice at handover
  • If the manager sets a minimum deposit, the order is not sent to the lab until it is taken

A day in your optical shop with Nizro

  1. The eye test and the prescription

You type the reading for each eye, and Nizro refuses what is out of range at the keyboard.

  2. The spectacle order

You pick the prescription, the lens and the frame, and the lab slip carries the frame's measurements when it comes from the catalogue.

  3. Contact lenses

A named fitter signs off the lens trial before the order is created, and the wear schedule works out the reorder reminder.

  4. Handover

The tax invoice is issued and the deposit is deducted from it.

  5. Appointments and the customer file

Eye test and collection appointments are on the appointments screen, and the customer file gathers prescriptions, orders, invoices and payments.

Questions everyone asks

Does it keep the prescription for each eye?

Yes. Each eye has sphere, cylinder, axis, add and prism, and the system refuses values outside the ranges. Pupillary distance is captured three ways.

What happens when I correct a prescription?

The old record is struck and linked to the new one, so there are never two live versions of one pair of eyes.

Does it support contact lenses?

Yes. They have their own prescription with base curve, diameter, brand and wear schedule. An order cannot be created before a named fitter signs off the trial.

Does it stop an order on an expired prescription?

Yes, unless a recorded override is used. Oman sets no legal validity period for a prescription, so the decision is the shop's and stays on the record.

Is it ready for e-invoicing in Oman?

A Nizro invoice is structured today and the system is built to connect to Fawtara. Decision No. 189/2026 makes it mandatory from 1 April 2027 for businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million and from 1 October 2027 for every other VAT registered business. Confirm your own date with the Tax Authority.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. 30 days free, no card. If you want a quote for your shop, press Request a quote.

Where is my data kept, and is it protected?

Nizro runs on Supabase: data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the provider holds SOC 2 Type 2. The data centre today is in Mumbai, India. On request, Nizro can be hosted inside Oman or on your own business servers.
