Bookshop and stationery software for Oman: cartons, price lists and the school's order number

A bookshop with a showroom in Al Khuwair sells at the counter. A stationery wholesaler in Ruwi supplies private schools by the carton, on each school's own order number and its own price list. Nizro serves both on one system: it opens with ready categories in Arabic and English, checks the ISBN, counts stock in pieces, sells and buys by the pack and the carton, and issues the VAT invoice.

Works the way you already work

In a bookshop and stationery wholesaler: you and Nizro

  • You

Type a book's ISBN on its page.

    Nizro

It checks the check digit of the 13-digit number, keeps a printed ISBN as bare digits, and refuses a wrong one in plain words before it saves.

  • You

Sell a carton of 24 notebooks.

    Nizro

It reads the carton's own barcode, prints the carton count, its pieces and the price of one carton on the invoice, and takes 24 pieces off the shelf for each carton.

  • You

Pick a school at the till or on a quote.

    Nizro

It takes each line's price from the school's list and says why under the price. A price you type stays, and the discount ceiling judges it from the list price.

  • You

Type the order number the school sent.

    Nizro

It travels from the quote to the sale, prints under the customer on the invoice, the delivery note and the quote, and the sales list finds the sale by it.

  • You

Plan your order before back to school.

    Nizro

It shows each title's sales in last year's same weeks, what is on the shelf and on its way, and suggests the order in whole units of its buying unit.

Ready for bookshops and stationery

Nizro opens a bookshop with thirteen ready categories in Arabic and English: school books and revision series; curriculum, academic and language books; general and cultural books; children's books; religious books and Quran; pens and writing; paper and notebooks; office supplies; art and craft; school supplies and bags; calculators and small devices; educational games and gifts; and printing, stamps and services. Every category is set to the standard VAT treatment, which is 5% in Oman, so every line of the invoice carries its tax. During the free trial one tap installs ready demo data: books and stationery with their cartons and a price list, a school with its order numbers, last year's back-to-school sales so the season board suggests your order in cartons, and an old edition beside its new one; delete it all whenever you want.

A catalogue that speaks the trade

Every category asks only for its own words. A school book carries author, publisher, language, year of publication, edition, subject, grade, semester, series, binding, pages and curriculum. A notebook carries paper size, paper weight and ruling, a pen its colour and tip size, a children's book or an educational game an age group, and a calculator its model reference. The barcode of a book is its ISBN-13. Nizro checks its check digit when you save it, keeps a printed ISBN as bare digits, and refuses a wrong number or an ISBN-10 in plain words. A new edition is a variant of its title, so last year's and this year's stay apart. The products list searches by name, author, publisher and ISBN, and the Excel import checks each row's ISBN and names the row it refuses.

Pieces, packs and cartons

A product keeps its units: the piece, a pack of 12, a carton of 24, each with its own barcode and its own price, and one unit as the default at the till and one when buying. Stock stays in pieces, so a carton of 24 is 24 pieces on the shelf. The till reads a carton's barcode, or you pick the unit and type the count. The invoice, the quote and the delivery note print the line as a carton count, the pieces inside it and the price of one carton. Purchase orders, receipts, supplier bills, goods sent back and write-offs take cartons too, and where the feature Stock as money and time is on, the stock page says “3 cartons and 7 pcs” beside the pieces of an item that has a default buying unit. The Excel import has a Units sheet.

A price list for each kind of customer

A school, a shop and a company rarely pay the same price. A manager makes a price list, such as a Schools list: a product's price from a quantity, for the piece or for the carton, or a discount on a whole category, with the dates the list holds. He gives it to each customer who should have it, on the customer's card, and a customer holds one list at most. At the till, on the sale form and on a quote, each line takes its price from his list and says why: “Schools list, 10 and more”. A price you type stays as you typed it, and the discount ceiling of your role judges it from the list price. The Excel import has a Prices sheet.

The school's order number, credit and delivery

A school buys on its own order number, its LPO. Type it once on the quote, at the till or on the sale form: it travels from the quote to the sale, prints under the customer on the invoice, the delivery note and the quote, and the sales list finds the sale by it. If you typed it wrong, correct it on the sale page; it never changes an amount. Schools and shops often pay after 60 to 90 days, many with post-dated cheques. Nizro offers your business the features of your trade that meet this, and the Business Owner switches each one on: a credit limit that holds a sale at the till for your one-tap release, and a register of post-dated cheques. Customer aging needs no switch: it says who owes you and for how long. Delivery is a job with an address and a driver, with a printed note that has a Received by line.

Buying from publishers and sending goods back

You buy with a purchase order, receive in cartons and record what arrived and what was rejected, then enter the supplier's bill, which cannot be entered twice. If a carton arrives damaged or a wrong edition comes, a manager sends the goods back from the receipt before the bill arrives, by the piece or by the carton. They leave the shelf at once, nothing goes on the supplier's account, and a debit note prints. After the bill, a return is a debit note against the bill itself.

The season board: what last season sold and what to order

Four seasons come back every year: back to school, the book fair, the exams and Ramadan. The Season card on the Insight page takes one of them and shows, for each title, what the same weeks of last year sold, what this year has sold so far, what is on the shelf and what is on its way. Then it suggests the order in whole units of the item's default buying unit: a carton, a pack, or pieces when the item has none. A title with a newer edition beside it gets no order, and the card lists the dead editions at their cost for whoever reads cost. Excel writes the whole list.

E-invoicing, and what is not built yet

Your invoice is structured today: tax on every line, a sequential number that never repeats, and printing in Arabic or English. The system is built to connect to Fawtara, which Decision No. 189/2026 makes mandatory from 1 April 2027 for businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million and from 1 October 2027 for every other VAT registered business. Confirm your own date with the Tax Authority. Some things are not built yet, and we say so: delivering one school order in parts, school kits by grade, sale or return from publishers, and commissions for salesmen.

Questions everyone asks

Does it check an ISBN?

Yes. When you save a book's barcode it checks the check digit of the 13-digit ISBN, keeps a printed one as bare digits, and refuses a wrong number or an ISBN-10 in plain words.

Can I sell and buy by the carton?

Yes. A product keeps its units, each with its own barcode and price, and stock stays in pieces. The till, the invoice and the purchase order speak in cartons and show the pieces, and so does the stock page where Stock as money and time is on.

Can a school have its own prices?

Yes. A manager makes a price list and gives it to the school on its card, with a price from a quantity for the piece or the carton, or a discount on a category, and the dates it holds. Each line of the school's quote or sale takes its price from the list and says why.

Can the school's order number be on the invoice?

Yes. You type it once on the quote, at the till or on the sale form, and it prints under the customer on the invoice, the delivery note and the quote. The sales list finds the sale by it.

Does it help me plan before back to school?

Yes. The Season card shows what each title sold in the same weeks of last year, what is on the shelf and on its way, and suggests the order in whole units of the item's buying unit. It does the same for the book fair, the exams and Ramadan.

Can I try it before I pay?
